Project Work-Packages

WP1 Project Management

WP2 Dissemination and Exploitation of Results

WP3 Development of algorithms for routing and wavelength assignment of multicast connections with physical layer constraints for metropolitan optical networks

The aim of WP3 is to develop novel algorithms for multicast routing and wavelength assignment while taking the transmission layer effects into consideration. We will use MATLAB to develop the code. This module will be one of the modules for the software simulation tool that will be developed in work-package WP9.

WP4 Development of algorithms for routing and wavelength assignment of protected multicast connections with physical layer constraints for metropolitan optical networks

The aim of WP4 is to develop algorithms for protecting multicast connections that are routed in accordance with the physical layer constraints. The code will be developed in MATLAB and the protection algorithm will be part of the software simulation tool that will be developed in work-package WP9.

WP5 Development of algorithms for routing/grooming and wavelength assignment of multicast connections with physical layer constraints for metropolitan optical networks

The aim of WP5 is to develop algorithms for traffic grooming of multicast connections while taking the transmission layer effects into consideration. We will use MATLAB to develop the code and this module will be one of the modules for the software simulation tool that will be developed in work-package WP9.

WP6 Development of algorithms for routing and wavelength assignment of groupcast connections with physical layer constraints for metropolitan optical networks

The objective of WP6 is to develop algorithms for groupcast routing and wavelength assignment while taking the transmission layer effects into consideration. This software module will be one of the modules for the software simulation tool that will be developed in work-package WP9.

WP7 Development of algorithms for routing and wavelength assignment of protected groupcast connections with physical layer constraints for metropolitan optical networks

The aim of WP7 is to develop algorithms for provisioning protected groupcast services with physical layer constraints. We will use MATLAB to develop the code. This module will be one of the groupcast software modules for the software simulation tool that will be developed in work-package WP9.

WP8 Development of algorithms for routing/grooming and wavelength assignment of groupcast connections with physical layer constraints for metropolitan optical networks

The objective of WP8 is to develop algorithms for traffic grooming of groupcast applications in transparent optical networks while taking the transmission layer effects into consideration. This software module will be one of the modules for the software simulation tool that will be developed in work-package WP9.

WP9 Development of a software simulation tool for metropolitan area networks that incorporates multicast and groupcast connections

The aim of work-package 9 is to develop a software simulation tool that can provision any type of traffic demand (multicast/groupcast, full-wavelength/low-rate, protected/unprotected) while at the same time taking into account physical layer effects.
