UCY is a public corporate body and is the most prestigious educational and research institution of the country. High quality scholarly research has always been a central aim of the University of Cyprus. During the last years the University has had considerable success in attracting external research funding, and has succeeded in acquiring a number of highly prestigious chairs of excellence.


IDAEA ( Instituto de Diagnóstico Ambiental y Estudios del Agua) (PA1)

The IDAEA ( Instituto de Diagnóstico Ambiental y Estudios del Agua, Institute of Environmental Assessment and Water Research, Department of Environmental Chemistry), former CID (Centre for Research and Development) is part of the CSIC- Spanish Council for Scientific Research. IDAEA is devoted mainly to environmental sciences, including environmental chemistry, eco-toxicology, fine chemistry, organic chemistry and technology areas like textile chemistry. During the last 10 years the Water Quality and Soil-Related Aspects Unit, led by Dr. Damia Barceló since 1987, has participated in different EU Projects within the Environment and Climate Program, MAST program, the INCO program. The main activity in relation to the area relevant to INNOVA-MED was the coordination of Waste Water Cluster. The WASTE WATER CLUSTER (WWC) was created in July 1997 and it involved five European research projects, in the Fourth Framework Program, within the area Environmental technologies (ET) in the EU Environment & Climate programme (PRISTINE, SANDRINE, PRENDISENSOR, INEXsPORT and OWWA).
