Social Events and your visit to Bochum!

We are more than pleased to receive you in this beautiful city in the Ruhr Region. At the end of the first day, we invite you to our welcome Reception at the Union Kino, one of the cinemas in Bochum. The reception will be accompanied with a toast and a small buffet and will be highlighted with the talk “Shaken, not stirred! James Bond in the Focus of Physics” from Prof. Metin Tolan and followed up with a James Bond movie, of course, with popcorn and drinks.
The participants should get to the cinema by their own, so that they can enjoy a little bit of the Bochum life. Obviously, we are not going to let you get lost, in the map below you can find the directions from the university. You can find the subway/bus connection as well.

Possible connections with the public transportations are
17:44 Bochum Ruhr-Universität take the U35 in direction to Herne
17:54 get out at Bochum HBF (main station) here you have to take the subway line 308 to Hattingen departing at 17:56
17:57 you arrive at Bermuda3eck / Musikforum. And you should follow the signs to Musikforum. The cinema is a few steps from this exit.
If you miss the train at the Bochum HBF (main station) you can just walk from there to the cinema

For the social event, we have planned something very special! We are going to depart with a shuttle bus from the university, to one of the most beautiful places in the Ruhr Region: the Dortmund-Ems Canal. Sailing from the boat lift Henrichenburg, we will travel along this canal and enjoy the beautiful landscape.

However the landscape is not the only reason why we are going. The ship, called “Santa Monika” will be our vessel in this journey. Dinner and drinks are provided in this first-class ship, besides we will entertained by a magician. At the end of this trip we will go back to the city with the same bus.
